Brooke Bartak-Jensen

LIMHP

Throughout my personal and professional life, I have found I am most fulfilled when I am helping others. I have a great deal of compassion and empathy for those who have experienced any sort of trauma. Because of this, I have received additional education and training to counsel others who are recovering from traumatic experiences. Modalities I often use for trauma recovery include eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), narrative therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and person-centered cognitive approaches.

Trauma often goes hand in hand with a complicated relationship with body image and food intake. I also find a passion in helping others gain tools and resources needed for a more healthy relationship with food and body image. I assist clients in learning self-compassion to help gain an anti-diet, intuitive eating perspective. Many of my client’s work towards a feeling of liberation from diet culture and body shaming.

Overall, my approach is empathic and person-centered.  My work is primarily individual counseling with adults. I am well-versed in working with those who may be struggling with mood concerns, anxiety, LGBTQ issues, unhealthy relationships with food, and past traumatic experiences, including narcissistic abuse. I am passionate about helping others and would be honored to be a part of your journey.
